Sewing Machine Light Bulb Guide
The light bulb illuminates the sewing area. Most home machines use a 15-watt incandescent bulb or an LED replacement. The bulb type is usually a bayonet base or wedge base. LED bulbs run cooler and last longer than incandescent. A replacement LED bulb costs $5-10. To replace the bulb, unplug the machine, remove the bulb cover (usually held by one screw), pull out the old bulb, push in the new one. Do not touch the glass of a new incandescent bulb — oil from your skin causes it to overheat and fail early. The cleaning guide covers safe bulb removal steps.
