Sewing Machine Bobbin Winder Repair: Tire, Not Spinning, and Fixes
Sewing Machine Bobbin Winder Repair Guide
The bobbin winder winds thread onto the bobbin. When it stops working, the first thing I check is the rubber tire.
The Rubber Tire
The bobbin winder tire is a small rubber ring. It presses against the handwheel. For a deeper look, see the bobbin winder tire replacement guide.. The tire type is a standard rubber O-ring. It fits most home machines. Over time, the rubber hardens and stops gripping.

No action needed
I fix these fast: 1. Pull off the old tire with a small flat screwdriver. Pry it off the winder wheel. 2. Stretch the new tire over the wheel. Rubber tires are flexible. They stretch. 3. Press the tire into the groove. 4. Test by turning on the winder and turning the handwheel.
