Sewing Machine Feed Dogs Not Feeding Fabric: Step-by-Step Fix

Presser Foot Pressure Too Low: Why Fabric Doesn't Move
This is the most common cause. Your presser foot is what presses fabric against the feed dogs. If there isn't enough pressure, the feed dogs spin under the fabric without grabbing it. Most machines have a presser foot pressure adjustment dial on top of the head — usually a numbered dial or a screw with a spring. Turn it up a couple of numbers. Test on scrap fabric. If the fabric starts moving, you're done.

Wrong Presser Foot Type Causing Feeding Problems
Believe it or not, the presser foot you're using matters. A zigzag foot with a wide slot lets the feed dogs peek through and grab fabric. But a darning or embroidery foot with a small opening can block the feed dogs' travel range. Switch back to the standard all-purpose foot and test. Feed Dog Timing Off: How to Check and Adjust
Less common, but if the feed dogs are rising and falling at the wrong point in the needle cycle, they won't move fabric. You'll hear a thumping noise and the machine will struggle.
